Sery / Docs
Install, connect, query.
Three independent paths — local desktop agent (free, no account), MCP from your editor, and cloud workspace ($19/mo for AI chat across machines). Pick any combination; they coexist by design.
Getting Started
Quick Start
Install Sery Link, pick a folder, search it in plain English. No account or signup needed for local features — Sery Link runs fully offline.
Installation
Step-by-step install for macOS (Apple Silicon + Intel), Windows 10/11 (.msi), and Linux (AppImage + .deb). Includes the macOS Gatekeeper workaround.
Your First Query
Local search works the moment you add a folder. Plain-English questions happen in your cloud workspace at app.sery.ai with the desktop agent doing the routing.
Network
Adding Another Machine
Create a workspace key on app.sery.ai and paste it into Sery Link to connect a laptop, desktop, NAS, or server. The same key works for any number of machines.
Queries Across Machines
Cross-machine filename + column search at app.sery.ai. SQL routing via MCP cloud endpoint. Catalog metadata is the only thing that crosses the network; files stay on their machines.
Integrations
MCP Integration
Use Sery from any MCP-aware LLM client. Local stdio mode is free and account-less. Cloud SSE endpoint (Plus) fans tool calls out to the right machine via the secure tunnel.
Adding Data
Add local folders, S3 buckets, Google Drive, public HTTPS URLs, and other cloud storage. Credentials live in your OS keychain — they never reach Sery servers.
Reference
Privacy Model
A precise list of what travels (paths, schemas, PII-redacted samples, your question, result rows) and what does not (raw files, anything outside watched folders, redacted PII).
Pricing & Billing
Free is unlimited local features and the local MCP server. Plus ($19/mo) adds cloud AI queries, multi-machine workspace, MCP cloud endpoint, and 5 invited machines on one bill.
Help
Troubleshooting
Fixes for the macOS Gatekeeper "Sery cannot be opened" message, workspace key rejects, MCP client integration, and stuck folder scans.
